Louis Comfort Tiffany Marigold Enameled Copper Vase 1898-1902
Very rare and important enameled copper vase designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany between 1898-1902. Features a polychrome ground of green and purple with marigolds around the circumference. Interior and rolled rim are both purple also. Base is un-enameled with good original patina. This is a true museum quality vase, in fact most enameled pieces like this are already in the permanent collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY.
Overall condition is excellent to the naked eye, but upon examination with 10x power loupe, fine cracks are evident in the enamel. A small area appears bare copper near the base, but that is a production flaw and not damage. There is also a small area which appears more matte than the rest of the finish. All flaws are minor, but worth mention. Hand signed on underside "L.C.T" and below that "E.L. 11". Measures 3" diameter x 1.6" height.
