18th Century Wing Back Gouty Chair
Very interesting high wing back wheelchair, made in England around 1795. Identical chair is in the permanent collection at the Victoria & Albert museum in London. We do not know who made this example, but similar chairs were made by the cabinet-making firm Gillow & Co. Mahogany, with brass fittings and probably original red velvet upholstery. Missing wheels, hand cranks and armature, but makes an excellent armchair..
